Health PEI - Registered Midwife, Provincial Midwifery Services

Reporting to the Midwifery Services Lead, the Registered Midwife is a comprehensive primary care provider to individuals and their newborns during the childbearing period as per the scope of midwifery care. This includes providing education and assessments, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing and/or administering medications, and performing minor surgical and invasive procedures. The Registered Midwife provides the full range of care needs to develop, implement and evaluate care throughout the prenatal, intrapartum and postnatal period for individuals and newborns for at least eight weeks after birth. The Registered Midwife also provides preconception care and aspects of reproductive care.
