About Bathurst
Bathurst Resources is New Zealand’s largest specialist coal producer with 4 local New Zealand coal mines. We produce over 2.2 million tonnes of coal each year and proudly employ over 550 people. About 80 percent of our production is used for steel making by local and international steel manufacturers. Our high-quality, thermal-grade coal fuels are also used to help drive the engines of many iconic New Zealand food and dairy businesses.
Our Stockton Mine is the largest opencast mine in New Zealand with a long history of high value coal production. It is located close to the coast on a plateau in the Buller coalfield, 35 km north of the Westport township, on the West Coast of the South Island. Think beaches, bush, mountains, rivers and lakes in our great outdoors, full of adventure potential!
