About the Role

We are seeking Trainee MMU Operators to join the operations team at the Fimiston Mine. This is a permanent opportunity offering structured training, clear progression, and long‑term career development within a high‑performing site‑based team.

You will work as part of a close‑knit team of 16. This role is ideal for candidates with strong driving experience looking to transition into mining, as well as those with previous industry exposure seeking stability and progression.

What You Will Be Doing

As a Trainee MMU Operator, you will undergo comprehensive on‑the‑job training while supporting daily operational activities on site. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with Mobile Manufacturing Unit (MMU) operations under supervision
  • Operating heavy vehicles and specialised equipment following site procedures
  • Conducting pre‑start checks and maintaining equipment to safety standards
  • Working closely with supervisors and team members to support production
  • Adhering to all safety, environmental and operational requirements
  • Progressing through competency‑based training toward MMU sign‑off

Roster & Hours

Training Period (Initial Sign‑On Phase):

  • 2:1 roster
  • Duration: approximately 3–12 months (dependent on competency progression)
  • Hours: 6am – 6pm (Majority day shift, with occasional night shifts as required)

Post Sign‑Off:

  • 8:6 roster
  • Hours: 6am – 6pm (Night shift infrequent and short‑term only – 3–4 nights at a time)
  • Night Shift Hours (when required): 1700 – 0500

What You Will Need

  • Must be local to Kalgoorlie (DIDO only – no FIFO)
  • Strong driving experience
  • Commitment to long‑term employment and career development
  • Ability to work safely in a mining environment
  • Willingness to complete site‑based training and assessments
  • PPE supplied by the client
