About the Role:

As a Scriptwriter for New Movies IP at YAAS, you'll be creating a unique challenge-led vox pop format that puts everyday people on the spot to think like advertisers and filmmakers. You'll write scripts for on-ground interactions where participants get 50 seconds to design or direct a short film. This role requires creative challenge design, quick-thinking scenario building, and the ability to capture spontaneous moments that blend pressure, creativity.


Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Research and write 48-50 high-quality vox pop scripts monthly for Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts.
  • Design creative challenges that prompt participants to ideate film concepts, direction, or execution on the spot.
  • Write presenter scripts with clear challenge setups, engagement hooks, and reaction moments.
  • Co-ordinate with production team with execution notes on how participant ideas translate to final film outputs.
  • Create challenges that balance difficulty with achievability to ensure engaging, replayable content.
  • Collaborate with editors and production team to structure participant ideation + final output reveal format.
  • Analyse performance data and adapt challenge types based on audience response.
  • Manage script coordination with on-ground shoots (3-4 hours writing, 2-3 hours production support daily)
  • Occasionally interface with the team on format evolution and content strategy.


Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years experience creating vox pop, street interview, or challenge-based content with measurable engagement metrics
  • Understanding of advertising, filmmaking, or creative brief structures.


Required Skills:

  • Strong creative thinking to design film/ad challenges that are simple enough to explain in seconds but interesting enough to engage viewers.
  • Excellent writing abilities without over-reliance on AI tools.
  • Understanding of how spontaneous moments translate to compelling video content.
  • Demonstrated ability to write presenter scripts that's energetic, and conversational.
  • Experience analyzing vox pop content performance and adjusting formats accordingly.
  • Knowledge of what makes challenge content shareable and replayable.
  • Portfolio of previous vox pop or challenge content showing concept quality and engagement results.


Nice to Have:

  • Background in advertising, filmmaking, creative direction, or branded content production.
  • Experience creating on-ground challenge formats or street interview content.
  • Personal challenge-based content channel or portfolio of published viral vox pop videos.
  • Experience with YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels strategy for spontaneous/unscripted content.
  • Knowledge of video production workflows and how to coordinate on-ground shoots with post-production.
  • Understanding of how to structure participant ideation moments for maximum entertainment.


What We're Not Looking For:

  • Inability to balance challenge difficulty.
  • Resistance to iterating on formats, testing new challenge types, or adapting based on participant responses.
  • Lack of understanding of how spontaneity and pressure create compelling content.
  • No awareness of what's working in challenge-based, vox pop, or creative competition content spaces.
