MYP Physical & Health Education (PHE) Educator

Position Overview

The MYP Physical & Health Education Educator is responsible for delivering the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP) Physical and Health Education curriculum to students aged 11–16. The educator promotes physical literacy, healthy lifestyles, personal development, and social responsibility through engaging, inclusive, and inquiry-based learning experiences aligned with IB philosophy.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Learning

  • Plan, teach, and assess Physical & Health Education units in alignment with the IB MYP framework and subject guide

  • Design inquiry-based learning experiences that develop physical competence, health awareness, teamwork, and personal responsibility

  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and abilities

  • Integrate Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills into lessons

  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment

Assessment & Reporting

  • Use MYP assessment criteria accurately and consistently

  • Provide timely, constructive feedback to support student growth

  • Maintain accurate records of student progress

  • Prepare reports and participate in student-led conferences and parent meetings

Student Wellbeing & Safety

  • Promote student wellbeing, positive relationships, and healthy decision-making

  • Ensure student safety during all physical activities and follow school safeguarding and risk management policies

  • Encourage lifelong participation in physical activity and healthy living

Collaboration & School Life

  • Collaborate with colleagues in interdisciplinary planning and school initiatives

  • Participate in MYP meetings, professional learning communities, and IB training

  • Contribute to extracurricular activities, sports programs, or school events as required

  • Support and model the IB Learner Profile

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Health Education, Sports Science, or a related field (Master’s preferred)

  • Teaching certification/licensure (as required by local regulations)

  • Experience teaching middle school students (ages 11–16)

  • Experience with the IB MYP or inquiry-based education preferred

  • First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
