National Warehousing Lead

Role Context & Purpose

The National Warehousing Lead is a critical leadership role within Mondelez India’s Supply Chain organization , responsible for defining, governing, and continuously improving the end-to-end warehousing strategy across the country. This role owns the performance, cost, compliance, and scalability of the national warehouse network comprising CFAs, 3PL-managed warehouses, and strategic distribution hubs supporting General Trade, Modern Trade, and emerging channels.

Reporting to the Logistics Operations Lead, the role acts as the single-point owner for warehouse network governance, ensuring alignment with Mondelez’s service, cost, safety, and quality objectives while enabling future growth, digitalization, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

1. Warehousing Strategy & Network Design

  • Define and periodically refresh the national warehousing strategy aligned with business growth, channel mix, and cost-to-serve objectives

  • Lead warehouse network design including location strategy, capacity planning, consolidation, and expansion decisions

  • Drive standardization of warehouse layouts, material flows, storage norms, and operating models across regions

  • Evaluate make-vs-buy decisions for CFAs and 3PLs and recommend optimal operating models

  • 2. Operational Excellence & Service Delivery

  • Govern end-to-end warehouse performance across the network

  • Drive service excellence by ensuring high dispatch adherence, order accuracy, and inventory reliability

  • Embed IL6S / continuous improvement methodologies to improve productivity, reduce losses, and eliminate waste

  • Act as escalation owner for systemic warehousing issues impacting service or customer experience

  • 3. Cost Management & Productivity

  • Support in warehousing cost budgets and drive continuous reduction in cost per case

  • Establish productivity benchmarks and monitor manpower, space, and equipment utilization

  • Lead cost optimization initiatives through mechanization, automation, layout redesign, and process improvements

  • Partner with Finance to ensure robust cost governance, forecasting, and savings tracking

  • 4. Partner & Contract Management

  • Lead sourcing, contracting, and performance governance of CFAs and 3PL partners

  • Drive commercial negotiations, renewals, and SLA adherence

  • Establish structured governance mechanisms including performance reviews, scorecards, and corrective action plans

  • Build strong, performance-driven partnerships while enforcing Mondelez standards

  • 5. Compliance, Quality & Risk Management

  • Ensure full compliance with Mondelez global warehousing standards, food safety, and quality requirements

  • Own audit readiness across internal, external, and statutory audits

  • Drive EHS, loss prevention, and risk mitigation agenda across the warehouse network

  • Ensure robust inventory controls, loss prevention, and stock integrity processes

  • 6. Digital & Capability Transformation

  • Partner with CS&L Digital and IT teams to deploy, stabilize, and enhance WMS and digital visibility tools

  • Drive adoption of data-driven performance management and analytics

  • Lead capability building for internal teams and external partners through training, SOPs, and playbooks

  • Act as a change leader to embed new ways of working across the network

  • Key KPIs & Performance Measures

  • Warehousing cost per case and total logistics cost

  • Order accuracy, Inventory accuracy, Cold Chain Compliance

  • Productivity metrics (cases per man-hour, space utilization, Etc)

  • Audit scores, compliance adherence, and safety metrics

  • Partner performance and SLA compliance.

  • Own Rough Cut Capacity Planning and execute flexible hiring/Dehiring of external warehouse in line with the same.

  • Seamless warehouse transitions with Best in class design, cost and efficiency parameters.

  • Experience & Qualifications

  • 12–18 years of progressive experience in warehousing and logistics operations within large FMCG / consumer goods organizations

  • Proven experience managing large, pan-India warehouse networks

  • Strong exposure to CFA and 3PL operating models

  • Demonstrated success in cost optimization, network design, and operational excellence initiatives

  • Experience operating in complex, matrixed organizations with senior stakeholder engagement

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, or Operations; MBA or equivalent preferred. Good Knowledge of SAP with respect to warehousing operation.
