PURPOSE/SUMMARY
The Network Infrastructure Solution Architect is part of a Global IT team and is primarily responsible for designing and supporting the implementation of strategic network-related projects and transformations. This role contributes to the definition of a multi-year technology roadmap for the Global Network Infrastructure, ensuring it aligns with business requirements and the overall IT strategy.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
IT Network Infrastructure Solution Architect
- Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of secure, scalable, and highly available network infrastructure solutions across on-premise, hybrid, and cloud environments.
- Support the architecture, design, and integration of voice and network solutions including WAN, LAN, WIfi, DNS, VoIP, SIP, Unified Communications (UC), Contact Center technologies, and collaboration platforms.
- Lead the definition of the Global Network strategy roadmap in alignment with overall IT and Enterprise Architecture strategies supporting the business needs and objectives. This includes the network strategy Manufacturing, R&D and Cloud services.
- Design and recommend network solutions that are well-integrated with existing infrastructure, ensuring modernization, interoperability, cost-efficiency, security and scalability.
- Design automation and orchestration capabilities in network provisioning and configuration using modern techniques, fostering agility and operational efficiency.
- Ensure network designs incorporate security best practices, data protection principles, and compliance with global and local standards and policies.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of network performance monitoring and optimization strategies, proactively identifying and addressing bottlenecks, risks, and vulnerabilities to ensure high availability and reliability.
- Identify and drive the adoption of innovative networking technologies (e.G., SD-WAN, SASE, Zero Trust, enterprise voice and video services) that support digital transformation initiatives aligned with business needs.
- Participate in architecture review and IT change boards to ensure governance, standardization, and alignment across the global IT landscape.
- Collaborate with enterprise architects, application teams, security teams, and third-party service providers to deliver robust and reliable networking services.
- Maintain accurate documentation of architecture decisions, designs, standards, and best practices. Support knowledge transfer across IT teams.
COMPETENCIES
- Proven expertise in designing network infrastructure solutions across LAN/WAN, SD-WAN, wireless, firewalls, VPNs, DNS, load balancers, cloud networking (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and IP routing protocols (BGP, OSPF).
- Strong knowledge of enterprise network protocols, routing and switching, and security frameworks.
- Experience with automation tools (e.G., Terraform, Ansible) and infrastructure monitoring platforms.
- Deep understanding of enterprise voice technologies: VoIP, SIP, PBX (on-prem/cloud), SBC, and QoS.
- Ability to define, implement, and monitor network-related SLAs, KPIs, and OLAs.
- Hands-on experience in troubleshooting complex network issues across hybrid environments.
- Experience with automation and scripting technologies (e.G., Python, Ansible) is a plus
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration or other related
field, or equivalent work experience.
- Relevant certification for IT Architecture is beneficial, e.G. TOGAF
- Certification in ITIL required.
Experience
Specialized experience
- Minimum 10 years of experience in IT.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in the field of Network Architecture.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in leading a global IT Infrastructure projects in an environment similar in size and complexity to Olympus.
- Strong Experience in Manufacturing / ShopFloor IT
- Demonstrable and recent experience in IT Network Solution Design for IT Infrastructure Services, working with external service providers and working according to ITIL service management processes.
- Strong proof in delivering complex global projects and organizational changes in a multi-national company.
- Preferred: experience in the Medical industry, either in a Consulting Company or directly in a Life Science Healthcare Company preferred.
