Role Description:

The role Senior IT Security Engineer / IT Security Lead (for Network Security team) is an operational role.

As a member of Network Security team you will be the initial point of contact for all firewall-related incidents, tickets, and

inquiries. You will respond to tickets from application owners, analyze requirements, and design/build firewall policies to

ensure secure and efficient network access. The Network Security team is responsible for managing various security devices,

applications, and information across Munich Re. . The Network Security team members are expected to monitor and manage

devices and applications such as proxy, firewall change assurance, IPS/ IDS, and DDoS. This role will report to the Head of

Global Cyber Operations and take direction from the Service Manager of the Network Security team. This position requires

a solid understanding of networking and security principles, as well as a customer-centric approach to quickly address

stakeholder needs.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

Working on network security technologies (Firewall, Proxy, IDS/IPS, DDoS, etc.)

Respond promptly to requests, incidents, and tickets from application owners.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business and application requirements.

Design, configure, and maintain firewall rules and policies that meet security standards.

Troubleshoot network connectivity and firewall performance issues.

Monitor firewall activity, identify potential threats, and recommend remediation steps.

Ensure firewall rule changes align with change management procedures and compliance guidelines.

Document all configurations, changes, and resolutions accurately.

Manage and update internal documentation

Monitor device health and activities

Assist in the day to day management of the proxy and access requests

Assist in troubleshooting and problem solving a wide variety of client issues and issues affecting the security of our

computing resources

Provide technical and operational security support to IT, Engineering, Legal, and business units

Research security enhancements and make recommendations to management.

Stay up-to-date on information technology trends and security standards.

Key Competencies & Skills required


Job Description


Public (C1)


Technical Skills:


2+ years of hands-on experience in network security or firewall engineering.

Proficiency in configuring and managing firewall platforms (e.g., Palo Alto, Cisco,

Fortinet, Checkpoint).

Strong knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS) and security

concepts.

Experience with enterprise change management processes and ticketing systems

(e.g., ServiceNow).

Good understanding of networking and security concepts


Must have:


Fluent in English communication

Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate and

collaborate with global teams

Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to troubleshoot and resolve complex

security issues

Ability to explain the technical issues and its solution

Previous Experience & Qualifications

Minimum Educational

Qualification:


Bachelor s or Master s degree in Computer Science / Engineering/ Information

Technology


Certification if any: Candidate with Cyber security certifications are preferred (e.g. CISSP, Security+, CCSA)

Years Experience & Knowledge: 2+ years of relevant experience
