Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough neurological assessments, including detailed medical histories and physical examinations, to accurately diagnose neurological disorders.
- Develop personalized treatment plans utilizing advanced medical imaging techniques such as CT scans, MRI, and other diagnostic radiology tools.
- Manage complex cases involving neurocritical care, airway management, and perioperative care for patients undergoing neurosurgical procedures.
- Administer specialized treatments including botulinum toxin therapy for conditions like dystonia or spasticity, and oversee medication management with a focus on psychopharmacology when applicable.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across specialties such as psychiatry, ophthalmology, endocrinology, cardiology, and pulmonology to ensure holistic patient care.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic and EMR systems efficiently for documentation, patient tracking, and compliance with HIPAA standards.
- Participate in clinical research initiatives aimed at advancing neurology practices and therapies.
- Provide education and counseling to patients and their families regarding neurological conditions, treatment options, lifestyle modifications, and health coaching strategies.
- Engage in discharge planning and follow-up care coordination to ensure seamless transition from hospital to home or rehabilitation facilities.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding for procedures, ICD coding for diagnoses, and hospital standards such as NCQA standards for quality assurance.
Experience
- Medical degree (MD or DO) with board certification or eligibility in neurology from an accredited program.
- Proven experience in inpatient neurology services within a Level I or Level II trauma center environment preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of neurophysiology, diagnostic evaluation techniques including CT scans and nuclear medicine imaging.
- Hands-on experience with interventional radiology procedures such as vascular interventional radiography and catheterization techniques relevant to neurovascular interventions.
- Familiarity with EMR systems like Epic or similar platforms; proficiency in medical coding (CPT/ICD) is advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to manage acute pain cases, perform suturing when necessary, and handle emergency room scenarios efficiently.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple specialties including pediatrics (pediatric neuropsychology), geriatrics (dementia care), and rehabilitation services.
- Knowledge of medical office procedures, patient assessment techniques, triage protocols, and hospital medicine practices is essential. Pay: $330,000.00 - $370,000.00 per year
Expected hours: 40 per week/Flexible schedule
