About The Role
The role will be responsible for supporting the development, testing, and implementation of innovative seafood products in line with customer requirements, market trends, and KB’s business growth objectives. This role works closely with production, procurement, quality assurance, and sales teams to ensure successful product launches and continuous improvement of existing product lines. The position will be a Permanent Full-Time role based in our processing facility in Canning Vale, WA.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate new product development projects from concept through to launch, ensuring they meet timelines and align with KB Seafood Co’s strategy.
- Schedule and manage production line trials and revaluations.
- Liaise with QA and regulatory teams to ensure HACCP plans are created, updated or in place before production; prepare and ensure sign off for specifications in a timely manner.
- Support initial production runs and be available to troubleshoot and provide expert advice if necessary.
- Track performance of new products, schedule post-launch reviews and annual reviews to assess product viability.
- Support allergen management, traceability, and documentation compliance.
- Maintain accurate records of product specifications and quality documentation, ensuring compliance with food safety and regulatory standards (HACCP, SQF, WQA, BRC, etc.).
- Collaborate across commercial, quality, procurement, account management, and production teams.
- Manage multiple projects at once, ensuring clear communication, timely execution, and alignment with customer expectations.
- Oversee packaging and labelling development to ensure it meets sustainability goals, is cost-effective, and complies with legal and customer standards.
- Ensure new product claims are supported by evidence and complete all verification and testing activities prior to launch.
- Support continuous improvement and innovation across the business, with an understanding of ethical and sustainability frameworks (MSC, ASC, GGAP, BAP, APCO, Sedex, SMETA).
- Maintain the NPD project register, timelines, and progress tracking. Support costings, BOM (Bill of Materials) creation, and ERP data entry.
- Compile trial reports and communicate outcomes to management and relevant teams.
Experience And Skills
- 3 years+ experience in product development, ideally in food manufacturing
- Degree in Food Technology, Food Science, Nutrition or equivalent
- HACCP Certification
- Full, Unrestricted Australian working rights
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and influencing skills
Desirable
- Experience working in cross-functional teams to deliver NPD outcomes in a factory environment
- Strong knowledge of seafood processing and packaging development
- Familiarity with Australian food regulations and labelling requirements
- Ability to analyse trends and develop commercially viable products
