Job Description My client is seeking an experienced Nurse Director to lead Maternal Child Health services across multiple hospital units in San Jose, CA . This high-impact role oversees strategic planning, patient care delivery, staff development, clinical quality, and operational excellence in a fast-paced, 24/7 environment. About the Role The Nurse Director will provide strategic and operational leadership for Maternal Child Health and Labor & Delivery services across several locations. This includes: Designing best-practice care delivery models and standards. Overseeing patient safety, clinical quality, and regulatory compliance. Managing staffing, budgets, equipment, supplies, and resource allocation. Leading investigations into patient/family concerns and ensuring service excellence. Collaborating closely with physicians, clinical leaders, and cross-functional teams to deliver safe, high-quality care. Driving continuous improvement, readiness for regulatory surveys, and operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities Lead multiple Maternal Child Health units and ensure seamless operations. Translate organizational strategy into actionable plans and measurable outcomes. Manage performance, staffing, talent development, and workforce planning. Oversee business operations, budget planning, and financial performance. Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements (Nursing Practice Act, TJC, state/federal standards). Drive quality improvement initiatives and patient care innovation. Partner with internal/external stakeholders to improve care across the continuum. Support the development of emergency and recovery plans, ensuring staff readiness. Coaching and inspiring teams, supporting career growth, and building a strong leadership pipeline. Directing hospital operations within a 24/7 clinical environment and ensuring emergency preparedness. Requirements Minimum 7 years of direct patient care experience. Minimum 2 years of leadership experience managing direct reports. Minimum 2 years of experience managing operational or project budgets. Maternal Child Health / L&D leadership background required. Bachelor's in Nursing (BSN) required. Master's degree required (MSN, MHA, MPH, MBA or related). Current California RN license and Basic Life Support (BLS) at hire. Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making abilities. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic hospital environment.
