Nurse Director of Emergency: This highly recognized hospital is seeking a Nurse Director of Emergency for an exceptional opportunity to lead a dynamic emergency services team dedicated to compassionate, rapid, and high-quality care. The Nurse Director of Emergency role is ideal for an experienced RN leader who thrives in fast-paced environments and is passionate about elevating patient outcomes.

The Nurse Director of Emergency will join a community medical center is a Critical Access Hospital with approximately 25 inpatient beds, delivering 24/7 emergency care, inpatient and swing-bed services, and a full complement of diagnostic imaging and laboratory capabilities. The facility offers family birth services, perioperative care with multi-specialty surgical procedures, cardiopulmonary and respiratory therapy, and inpatient/outpatient rehabilitation to meet the needs of a diverse, rural population.

The Nurse Director of Emergency reports to the Chief Nursing Officer and partners closely with the Emergency Medicine Medical Director. Direct reports to the Nurse Director of Emergency include assistant managers, charge nurses, an ED educator, and a unit-based coordinator, with additional oversight of RNs, techs, paramedics, and support staff. The Nurse Director of Emergency collaborates with leaders in ICU, OR, Cath Lab, Laboratory, Imaging, Case Management, and Patient Transport to optimize throughput, safety, and patient experience.

The Nurse Director of Emergency will oversee an emergency department with approximately 52 treatment spaces, a 10-bed fast track, and a 12-bed observation unit, serving about 78,000 annual visits across adult, pediatric, and trauma populations. Approximately 150 FTEs deliver care in a high-acuity, fast-moving environment energized by strong physician partnerships and seasoned clinical teams. The Nurse Director of Emergency will foster a supportive culture centered on teamwork, clinical excellence.

The Nurse Director of Emergency will guide clinical education, mentorship, and competency validation while advancing quality initiatives such as sepsis, stroke, STEMI, door-to-doc, LWBS, and boarding reduction. Administratively, the Nurse Director of Emergency will lead staffing, scheduling, and budget stewardship; oversee triage, admission, and discharge workflows; and ensure readiness for regulatory surveys and compliance with EMTALA and hospital policies. The role includes collaboration with physicians and interdisciplinary partners to streamline operations, enhance patient safety, and improve outcomes.
