The Nurse Practitioner Candidate (NPC) is a Registered Nurse who is training and developing the expert knowledge base, complex decision-making skills and clinical competencies for expanded practice under the guidance of Medical Supervisors. As an NPC at Corryong Health, the scope of practice will enable advanced skills in delivering care in the acute Urgent Care Centre (UCC), inpatient environment and Residential Aged Care Facility (RACF). Moreover, the extended scope of practice will enable rural generalist primary care support to people accessing the Medical Clinic and community-based services.

An NPC uses advanced comprehensive assessment techniques in screening, diagnosis and treatment in accordance with evidence-based practice. NPCs are guided to initiate and interpret diagnostic tests and prescribe therapeutic interventions including in-scope pharmaceuticals.
