Overview

Setting : Clinic & Hospitals

Role : Assisting local doctors and nurses at understaffed facilities; observing clinical practice in a different cultural setting; developing your communication skills; and gaining hands-on medical experience. You will work alongside the obstetric and gynaecology surgeons and labour and delivery staff to help with pregnant women struggling with complex pregnancies and deliveries. Assisting doctors with physical exams, taking patient histories, and taking vitals.

Requirements

• To join the Medical project in Peru you will need to be a qualified medical professional with an active license.
• All volunteers are required to speak fluent English and adequate volunteer travel insurance and provide a criminal background check to IVHQ before departure.

Cost

From CA $657 per week, (and a Registration Fee of approx. CA $454); Volunteers are also responsible for: Visa, flights, travel insurance (mandatory), vaccinations, criminal background check, lunch and dinner, public transport to and from your placement each day and return to the airport when your program finishes.
