**Responsibilities**

Ascension Technologies is seeking an Observability & Monitoring Architect to join the Core Technologies, Service Delivery team. This role is responsible for designing, maturing, and standardizing Ascension’s enterprise monitoring, alerting, AIOps, and observability capabilities across thousands of network and infrastructure assets.

The Architect will work across SolarWinds, ScienceLogic SL1, ServiceNow, and other enterprise tools to enhance telemetry, improve alert quality, reduce noise and MTTR, and deliver meaningful insights that improve clinical uptime and operational performance.

This position plays a critical role in ensuring Ascension has a modern, cohesive, and scalable observability strategy supporting hospitals, data centers, cloud platforms, and remote sites nationwide.

**Key Responsibilities**

**Observability & Monitoring Architecture**

+ Design and maintain end-to-end observability architectures spanning on-prem, cloud, and hybrid environments.
+ Establish modern design patterns for telemetry ingestion, event correlation, dependency mapping, health scoring, and digital experience monitoring.
+ Ensure that all monitoring architectures align with enterprise architecture, operational maturity goals, and patient-care-driven service reliability.

**SolarWinds & ScienceLogic Ownership**

+ Develop advanced architectures for SolarWinds (network/server/cloud monitoring, alerting, NetPath, PerfStack, UDT, VNQM, LA).
+ Architect ScienceLogic SL1 deployments, device models, power packs, AIOps integrations, and automation workflows.
+ Optimize integrations between monitoring tools, AIOps engines, and ServiceNow Incident/Change/CMDB.

**Alerting & Event Management**

+ Define and govern alerting standards, thresholds, baselines, and correlation logic.
+ Reduce alert fatigue by driving alert hygiene, rationalization, and automation.
+ Implement event enrichment models that include device dependencies, related alerts, historical data, and performance context.

**AIOps & Automation**

+ Architect AIOps patterns that leverage anomaly detection, predictive analytics, and automated remediation.
+ Partner with platform teams to expand automation capabilities and integrate closed-loop workflows.
+ Evaluate emerging AIOps technologies and recommend adoption paths aligned to business needs.

**Operational Maturity & Network Health**

+ Design monitoring and observability improvements that enhance reliability, MTTR, and overall network health.
+ Support problem management by enabling deep root-cause visibility and reduction of chronic issues.
+ Participate in operational reviews, incident postmortems, and continuous improvement initiatives.

**Enterprise Integration & Collaboration**

+ Work closely with Network Operations, Network Architecture, Cloud Engineering, Cybersecurity, and Applications & Platforms.
+ Ensure observability coverage keeps pace with new deployments, cloud workloads, modernization initiatives, and architectural changes.
+ Guide engineering teams in implementing monitoring standards and best practices.

**Documentation & Governance**

+ Maintain architectural documentation, solution designs, monitoring standards, and blueprint diagrams.
+ Contribute to observability governance frameworks, telemetry onboarding processes, and lifecycle management policies.

**Qualifications**

+ Hands-on experience designing or supporting enterprise monitoring and observability platforms (SolarWinds, ScienceLogic SL1, Dynatrace, Datadog, New Relic, or similar).
+ Strong understanding of network, server, and cloud telemetry, SNMP, APIs, logs, metrics, and event processing.
+ Experience defining alert thresholds, baselines, correlation rules, and noise-reduction strategies.
+ Knowledge of ServiceNow integrations for event management, CMDB, and automated incident workflows.
+ Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills in complex, distributed environments.
+ Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts to various audiences.

**Preferred**

+ Experience with AIOps platforms or features (anomaly detection, predictive health scoring, automated remediation).
+ Familiarity with cloud monitoring frameworks (Azure Monitor, AWS CloudWatch, GCP Operations).
+ Scripting/automation experience (Python, PowerShell, API integrations).

Certifications such as SolarWinds SCP, ScienceLogic certifications, ITIL, or relevant cloud/network credentials.

**Position Impact**

The Observability & Monitoring Architect drives Ascension’s enterprise-wide monitoring strategy, ensuring reliable and actionable visibility into critical systems. Their work directly supports improved clinical uptime, stronger operational maturity, and higher quality incident response across one of the nation’s largest healthcare networks.
