Position Purpose

The Operations Excellence Site Representative is responsible for driving & executing Operation Excellence activities to improve operations and business processes at assigned site. The role is also responsible to implement strategic models to transform current business process and create a continuous improvement culture in the organization.

Strategic Responsibilities


Operational Responsibilities

  • Monitor and implement Operational Excellence systems / projects in DMTs and AMTs to improve productivity

  • Identify opportunities to increase operational efficiency (workflow, systems, material usage, cost) and report to leadership

  • Identify areas of obstruction / breakdowns in the given OE plan to plants and rectify the issues by implementing trouble shooting tools, SPC tools etc.

  • Coordinate formation and working of Focused Improvement Teams as per need and ensure their success is monitored on regular basis

  • Implement systems on site for Operational Excellence based on established practices and standards for the organization

  • Collaborate with production and quality departments at the site and initiate sustainability focused process improvements to exceed customer expectations

  • Drive site specific activities related to, but not restricted to:
  • o Autonomous Maintenance Teams and Daily Management Teams


    o Continuous Improvement Process


    o Constitute Focused Improvement Teams and monitor their performance


    o Assess the process being followed in all DMTs and AMTs


    o Ensure predictive & preventive maintenance schedules for critical equipment’s to increase machine uptime & equipment reliability


    o Develop alternate approach for improvements in productivity parameters in plant i.e. – why-why analysis, SPL, Abnormalities studies, KPOV study etc. for improving operation efficiency

  • Perform benchmarking studies and implement best practices in all functional areas

  • Perform day to day administration of OE functions

  • Ensure planning and execution of new business process initiative

  • Provide technical support to other functions on Operational Excellence processes

  • Maintain operations excellence budget; establish timelines; provide support to management team

  • Track financial performance and reports on quantifiable goals and objectives

  • Ensure achievement of cost saving initiatives to achieve targeted savings in time frame

  • Manage the administrative requirements of record keeping, research, calendar management, and institutional reporting to funders

  • Facilitate initiatives for training need identification and building requisite skills & competencies through systematic training & skill-upgradation initiatives for the team

  • Education Qualification


    BE - Chemistry or Mechanical/ or any discipline

    Work Experience


    10 - 15 years, out of which 6 - 8 years should be in capacity as Lead taking care of Operational Excellence activities

    Functional Competencies


  • Demonstrated ability to execute Operational Excellence initiatives across the organization
  • Ability to plan, execute and ensure that OE targets are rolled out in the organization as per management expectations
  • Ability to train people on Operation Excellence across levels from Junior to Senior Level
  • Ability to present the findings in a clear and concise manner
  • Ability to understand technical issues related to chemical plant and provide productivity enhancement solutions
  • Good command over productivity/Process improvement tools and execute the same in OE activities
  • Good command on tools like 5S, TPM, WCM, Fish Bone analysis, PERT, etc.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma, TQM, Minitab, SPC tools desirable
