Operations Research Engineer

An Optimization Engineer uses operations research which is a mathematical science concerned with optimal decision making and the modeling of deterministic and probabilistic systems. Its focus and field of application are interdisciplinary, embracing a broad range of quantitative techniques. Operations research provides a rational approach to engineering and managerial problem solving through deliberate application of scientific methods. The function of the optimization engineer is to guide decision making by decomposing business problems into mathematical frameworks, developing and proposing courses of action, establishing appropriate metrics and objectives to optimize, and evaluating total system effects.
