Job Description

Craft Precision. Build Pride. Support Our Armed Forces.

At Whitworth Tool, precision isn’t just what we do — it’s who we are. Headquartered in Hardinsburg, Kentucky, Whitworth Tool is a leading precision machining shop. We make critically important components for some of the most iconic and advanced products in the world — including M2 machine guns, F-35 fighter jets, precision automotive components, commercial aircraft, and key parts for metals, energy and water equipment manufacturers — helping equip the U.S. military and grow U.S.-based manufacturers.

Why You’ll Love Working Here

  • Family-first culture & flexibility — We support your life inside and outside of work. Sometimes that means life happens, and we’ll support you when it does.

  • Top-tier benefits — Healthcare and 401(k) plans that compete with other options in the area.

  • Close-knit, caring team — Work alongside friends with supervisors who have your back.

  • Exciting, meaningful work — Contribute to projects that make a difference and help protect our country.

  • Rooted in Hardinsburg — Skip the long commute and stay connected to your local community.

We’re growing fast under dynamic new leadership, expanding into new customer markets, and investing in cutting-edge capabilities. We’re looking for CNC Operators who want more than just a job — people eager to hone their craftsmanship, grow their skills, and take pride in work that truly matters.

What You’ll Do

  • Set up and operate CNC machines to craft precision components that meet exact specifications for critical defense, aerospace, and automotive applications.

  • Measure, inspect, and fine-tune your work using precision gauges, check sheets, and print dimensions to ensure every part is top quality.

  • Swap, adjust, and maintain tooling including offsets, inserts, and setups — keeping production efficient and accurate.

  • Collaborate with an experienced team, learning from seasoned machinists and sharing your knowledge to keep the shop running smoothly.

  • Maintain a safe, clean workspace, managing coolant and oil levels, and using cranes or hoists when needed.

  • Finish with pride, deburring, polishing, and preparing final components that will help power America’s military and industrial strength.

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality

  • Dependable, trustworthy, and safety-conscious

  • Ability to organize and complete tasks within deadlines

  • Willingness to work at a sustained pace and handle occasional pressure

  • Ability to pass a drug test and background check

  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) — safety glasses, protective footwear, ear plugs, face shield

  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and drive for personal growth

  • Willing to work some overtime voluntarily and when requested

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a manufacturing, machining, or CNC environment

  • Experience setting up and operating CNC machines

  • Familiarity with using precision gauges and measuring tools

  • Ability to read blueprints and interpret part dimensions

  • Ability to adjust machine offsets and troubleshoot minor issues
