At Gixel our goal is to explore, innovate and design a novel next generation augmented reality experience. We are looking for skilled and motivated Optical Engineers to join our optics team in Karlsruhe. Based on your expertise and your passion, you may work on one or more areas from the following:
viewing opticsoptical systemsdisplay opticsoptical characterisation andoptical fabrication processesYou will work on the end-to-end product development cycle including concept, design, development, and integration of those optical components or systems. You will also work cross functionally to develop specifications and test methods, perform performance evaluation and work closely with manufacturing partners for prototyping and mass production.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Define and design optical components for next generation AR experienceEstablish engineering specifications, including key performance metrics, test methods, and test requirements for optical components Work with diverse and highly interdisciplinary team members, . optical design & simulation, mechanical engineering and design, to develop and mature new technologies for the viewing opticsEvaluate and prototype in the lab and manage the supplier selection and communicationLead the development to scale up for high volume manufacturing
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Master degree in optical engineering, Photonics, Physics or a related technical discipline or equivalent work experienceStrong experience in ZemaxProgramming experience (Python, Matlab or C++)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in technology transfer of free-form optics from R&D to high volume productionExperience in optical system for the human eye (VR or AR systems)Tolerance analysisStraylight analysisExperience in both sequential and non-sequential optics
