Responsibilities

• Evaluate patient health by testing vision functions and abilities.
• Provide primary eye care through ophthalmic lenses, contact lenses or other corrective devices.
• Diagnose ocular defects and write prescriptions; refer patients to ophthalmologists as needed.
• Document patient histories and prescribe medications as necessary.
• Ensure all equipment is properly maintained and calibrated according to safety protocols.
