Job Description
An Oracle Applications DBA is responsible for the administration, maintenance, and support of Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) environments. This role requires a blend of database administration skills and specific knowledge of Oracle Applications architecture and functionalities.
Key Responsibilities:-
· Installation, Configuration, and Upgrades:
Installing, configuring, migration and upgradation of Oracle E-Business Suite and its underlying database and Oracle Web Logic.
· Patch Management:
Applying patches, hotfixes, and security updates to both the Oracle database and E-Business Suite applications.
· Cloning and Refreshing:
Performing cloning of EBS environments (e.g., production to development/test instances) for various purposes like testing or development.
· Performance Tuning:
Monitoring and optimizing the performance of the Oracle database and E-Business Suite applications, including tuning SQL queries, concurrent programs, and application servers.
· Backup and Recovery:
Implementing and managing backup and recovery strategies for the Oracle database using tools like RMAN, and ensuring data integrity and availability.
· Security Management:
Implementing and maintaining database and application security, including managing users, roles, privileges, and profiles within Oracle EBS.
· System Administration:
Performing day-to-day system administration tasks within Oracle Applications, such as managing concurrent managers, printers, and user responsibilities.
· Troubleshooting and Support:
Diagnosing and resolving technical issues related to database performance, application functionality, and system errors.
· High Availability and Disaster Recovery:
Implementing and maintaining high availability solutions and disaster recovery plans for Oracle EBS environments.
· Collaboration:
Working closely with development teams, functional consultants, and other IT personnel to support application development, testing, and production operations.
· Documentation and Reporting:
Creating and maintaining documentation for database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps, and generating reports on database health and performance. Develop and maintain documentation for Web Logic installations, configurations, and best practices.
Responsibilities:-
· Manage, configure, and maintain Oracle Applications databases. Deploy, and maintain Web Logic environments to support enterprise applications with a focus on performance and scalability
· Perform database backups, recovery, and disaster recovery planning.
· Monitor database performance and implement performance tuning measures.
· Apply patches, updates, and upgrades to the database environment.
· Ensure database security and compliance with organizational policies.
· Collaborate with developers to support application development activities.
· Resolve complex database issues and provide technical support as needed.
· Document database configurations, procedures, and changes.
Qualifications:-
· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
· Proven experience as an Oracle Apps DBA or similar role.
· In-depth knowledge of Oracle Applications and related technologies.
· Proficiency in database administration, patch management, and performance tuning.
· Strong understanding of database security protocols.
· Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
· Good communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
