Job Description

We are looking for qualified Panel Beaters & Spray Painters who are interested in working at a privately owned panel shop in Mount Isa. Busy workshop in town. Full Time Positions & Immediate start.
Your responsibilities will include:

  • Remove damaged panels and components by unbolting or cutting them away
  • Straighten badly damaged vehicles using mechanical and hydraulic equipment to obtain door, boot and bonnet clearances (Computerized CAR-O-Liner bench Racks, KOREK chassis aligning systems)
  • Cut and join replacement sections or damaged panels using oxyacetylene and electric welding equipment
  • Fill dents with plastic fillers and file, grind and sand repaired surfaces using power and hand tools
  • Fit the repaired panel on the framework of the vehicle and re-fit body hardware such as door locks and door trims
  • Spray Painters should be able to attend to major repairs and paint work with good productivity.
  • Experience in all aspects of preparing panels for paint including - sanding, blowing off and masking up vehicle
  • Must be trade qualified & experience with water based paint is an advantage
  • Work unsupervised on prestige and late model vehicles.
  • Working effectively in a team,
  • Working unsupervised, and
  • Adhering to workplace policies as well as WHS standards.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • At least 1 year fulltime experience within the automotive industry
  • Hold industry relevant trade qualification in panel-beating or equivalent,
  • Experience panel beating/ spray painting,
  • Experience with power tools,
  • Familiar with Car-O-liner and KOREK chassis aligning systems, and
  • A License/reliable vehicle.
