Job Description
We’re seeking a seasoned Patent Attorney with proven expertise in IP strategy development and global implementation for APIs. If you excel in partnering across Legal, R&D, Marketing, Regulatory Affairs, Portfolio, and Commercial teams to provide patent support for product development and commercialization worldwide, this leadership opportunity is designed for you.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide end-to-end support to Portfolio, R&D, Marketing, Regulatory Affairs and Commercial Associates from initiation of the Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) project through launch.
- Conduct FTO analysis and patentability assessments
- Patent drafting and prosecution.
- Determine launch strategy, assess risk associated with launch and manufacturing of the API and address these risks.
- Collaborate with outside counsel to determine/develop positions to relevant patents and manage oppositions and litigations worldwide, including European Patent Office Oppositions and similar actions in National patent offices
- Manage outside counsel opinion to ensure high quality work product on time and within budget.

- Ability to identify, advise on, minimize business risks, and propose practical solutions
- Strong customer-orientation; an ability to see issues from the point of view of others
- Ability to work successfully and cooperatively with colleagues across multiple cultures and time-zones
- Up to 10% travel, including international, as needed.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate must be:
Qualified Indian Patent Attorney. Advanced degree in relevant science preferred.
- Minimum of 10-12 years prior patent experience required
- Preference for significant patent experience working with small molecule pharmaceuticals
- Preference for prior in-house patent experience
