Job Description

Job Summary: Under the supervision and direction of the Medical Director of the Laboratory and/or other licensed Pathologist, the Pathologists Assistant (PA) prepares and performs the gross examination and dissection of anatomic pathology specimens.

 Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepares tissue for pathological tests including frozen section diagnosis, cytology specimens, muscle biopsies, ACE specimens, and renal biopsies.

  • Photographs gross and microscopic specimens and assists in preparation of educational conferences.

  • Performs postmortem examinations (<5 year). Addresses daily QAs and monthly QA Reports.

  • Assist with gross description, dissect surgical specimens and prepare tissue for processing.

  • Obtain biological specimens for analysis and perform special procedures.
