Position Overview

Optigy is seeking an experienced Pathology Physician Assistant for a locum assignment in Georgetown, SC. This role involves supporting pathology operations by performing gross examination and dissection of surgical specimens in a hospital-based laboratory. The provider will join a collaborative pathology team focused on delivering high-quality, precise diagnostic services.

Requirements

  • ASCP certification required

  • Proven experience grossing large surgical specimens

  • Prior experience as a Pathology Physician Assistant required

  • No hospital MSO privileges required for this assignment
Responsibilities

  • Perform gross examination, dissection, and dictation of surgical specimens

  • Maintain accurate specimen identification and documentation

  • Collaborate with pathologists and lab staff to ensure timely case turnaround

  • Adhere to all CAP, CLIA, and facility compliance and safety standards

  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives within the laboratory

Position Details

  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (occasional 11:30 AM – 8:00 PM shifts)

  • On-call: None

  • Overtime: Daily after 8 hours; Weekly after 168 hours

  • Credentialing Timeline: Variable

  • Telehealth: No
