Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Patient care Tech in the Medical Services, Transmagnetic Stimulation Services – Brief Treatment-Edisonof Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care.
The Patient care Tech is responsible for administering, monitoring, and scheduling Transmagnetic Stimulation (TMS) services, providing support for individuals served throughout treatment, and ensuring equipment safety and functionality.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Under strict physician supervision Administers TMS services in accordance with established policies and procedures. Conducts pre-treatment assessments to verify TMS therapy eligibility. Demonstrates competency in procedures within scope of practice. Explains TMS to individuals served and responds to inquiries related to the procedure. Monitors individuals served throughout sessions to ensure their safety and comfort. High school diploma required plus two (02) years of relevant experience in a health care setting. Certifications/Licenses Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Prior completion of a TMS training program or completion of a UBHC-sponsored onsite TMS training program within 30 days of hire required. Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Have excellent interpersonal skills, compassion and empathy for others, comfort working with and providing support for different patient presentations, fast learner and an ability to think critically. Preferred Qualifications
An associate degree in a health care or related field preferred. Previous experience in electromagnetic brain stimulation preferred. Equipment Utilized

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Standing, sitting, walking, talking, or hearing. Ability to speak clearly and write proficiently. Subject to varying and unpredictable situations. May be exposed to agitated patients. Physical dexterity to position TMS equipment. Can expect to lift up to 25 lbs. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Moderate noise. Subject to unpredictable situations and both medical and psychiatric crises. Possible exposure to individuals exhibiting assaultive behaviors.
