Payment Poster

Job Overview:

The Payment Poster is responsible for accurately recording and reconciling all insurance and

patient payments for a medical clinic. This role requires a strong medical billing

background to correctly interpret EOBs/ERAs and ensure all payments are applied accurately

to patient accounts in compliance with healthcare reimbursement standards.

Key Responsibilities:

● Post insurance payments (ERAs, EOBs, EFTs, and checks) into the clinic's Practice

Management System (PMS)

● Post patient payments (co-pays, deductibles, coinsurance)

● Accurately match payments to:

○ correct patient accounts

○ correct medical claims

○ correct service lines

● Apply contractual adjustments and write-offs based on payer agreements

● Reconcile posted payments against bank deposits and remittance reports

● Identify and flag:

○ underpayments

○ overpayments
