Payroll Administrator — Maternity Leave Contract

We are seeking an organised and detail-focused Payroll Administrator to support our finance functions during a maternity leave period.

This role suits someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, demonstrates exceptional attention to detail, and can work confidently both independently and as part of a team.

You will be responsible for accurately preparing payroll data for submission to our third-party payroll provider. Experience with Reckon or a similar payroll platform is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare payroll summaries and data files for submission to an external payroll service
  • Collect, verify, and manually enter timesheets and rostered hours
  • Reconcile payroll reports received from the outsourced provider
  • Coordinate leave requests, allowances, deductions, and pay variations
  • Ensure compliance with awards, legislation, and internal policies
  • Maintain employee records, new starter information, and employment changes
  • Prepare and distribute payroll and workforce reports to Upper Management
  • Maintain Portable Long Service Leave
  • Respond to employee queries regarding hours, entitlements, and payroll outcomes

Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience in payroll administration or HR/payroll support (essential)
  • Proficiency with Reckon or similar accounting/payroll systems
  • Strong knowledge of Australian employment standards, awards, and superannuation requirements
  • High accuracy, attention to detail, and data integrity
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to liaise with staff at all levels
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage deadlines
