Job Description
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Part-Time Payroll and Benefits Administrator to manage our diverse payroll operations and administer employee benefits. This crucial role requires experience with multiple payroll cycles (weekly, bi-weekly, monthly) and processing various payment types, including domestic W-2 employees, 1099 contractors, and international staff, utilizing multiple payroll platforms. Accuracy, compliance, and confidentiality are paramount.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Management (70%)Process Full-Cycle Payroll: Manage and execute multiple payroll cycles (weekly, bi-weekly, monthly) for W-2 employees across different states/jurisdictions.
Time Card Administration: Oversee the weekly collection, validation, and processing of employee timecards and PTO/sick leave requests, ensuring accuracy before payroll submission.
Contractor Payments (1099): Process payments for independent contractors, ensuring proper documentation (W-9) and accurate reporting for year-end 1099 generation.
International Payroll: Coordinate and process payroll for a small contingent of international staff using Deel.
Data Integrity & Audits: Input and maintain all payroll data, including new hires, terminations, changes to pay rates, withholdings, and deductions, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Tax & Garnishments: Manage and track all payroll tax remittances, filings, and court-ordered wage garnishments.
Reconciliations: Perform post-payroll processing reconciliations and journal entries.
Enrollment & Changes: Administer employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, and 401(k), handling new enrollments, qualifying life event changes, and terminations.
Leave Management: Assist in the administration and tracking of FMLA, short-term disability, and other leaves of absence, coordinating pay integration with payroll.
Invoicing: Reconcile monthly benefits invoices for accuracy and process payments.
Support: Serve as the primary point of contact for employee payroll and benefits questions, providing timely and professional support.
Required Qualifications
Experience: Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in payroll administration.
Multi-Platform Proficiency: Demonstrated experience working with and managing payroll.
Tax Expertise: Strong working knowledge of federal and multi-state wage and hour laws, payroll tax regulations (W-2, 1099), and reporting requirements.
Technical Skills: High proficiency in Google Workspace
Soft Skills: Impeccable attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to maintaining absolute confidentiality.
