Payroll Compliance Officer

Payroll can be complex - and that’s exactly why we care about getting it right. We’re looking for a Payroll Compliance Officer with 1-3 years’ payroll experience who wants to step into a compliance-focused role supporting a large and dynamic payroll environment. You’ll work across various awards and agreements, statutory obligations and portable entitlements, helping ensure our payroll outcomes are accurate and compliant.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support compliance reviews, audits and data validation activities including regulator and scheme reviews.
• Assist in processing superannuation contributions, month-end reporting performing reconciliations and investigate variances in payroll and employee data.
• Prepare data for statutory and compliance reporting for Portable Long Service Leave (PLSL) returns across construction and building schemes.
• Assist in coordination and review of international payroll, shadow payroll processes and reporting for overseas locations.
• Work closely with other payroll team members finance and HR to improve activities.
• Contribute to process improvements and clearer compliance documentation.
• Assist in coordination of benefits for Fringe Benefits Tax annual returns.
• Maintain compliance registers, trackers and supporting documentation.
• Work as a committed member of the payroll team to maintain a strong service culture and support to the business.

What you’ll bring:

• 1-3 years’ experience in payroll, tax, accounting or a compliance-related role - construction contracting exposure is highly regarded.
• Confidence with payroll systems (Ascender by Dayforce is a strong advantage).
• Familiarity with construction awards, EBAs or time-based payrolls is a strong advantage.
• Strong attention to detail and confidence working with data - you care about accuracy and completeness.
• Comfortable working with data and Excel (lookups, filters, pivots; power query a bonus).
• Inquisitive, practical and comfortable asking questions to get to the right outcome. A willingness to learn is essential - be curious.
• Ability to work under pressure and develop work strategies to achieve deadlines.
• Keen to build a long-term career in payroll compliance or governance.
• Experience with Portable LSL schemes (e.g. MyLeave, QLeave, NT Build etc), audits or statutory reporting is a bonus - but not essential. We’ll teach you.
