Overview

Alfabs is a long established, recently ASX listed company and industry leader in the provision of turnkey solutions for complex high-profile projects within the Infrastructure, Mining, Ports & Construction sectors.

Due to our recent growth and expanding portfolio we are seeking a Payroll Officer to join our Kurri Kurri team. The Payroll Officer will take end-to-end responsibility for payroll across the group, while also supporting the upcoming ERP implementation from a payroll perspective.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately process and administer payroll on a regular basis ensuring timely and precise calculation of wages, salaries, commissions, bonuses, and other compensation elements weekly.
  • Maintain and update payroll records for all employees, ensuring that any changes (e.g., new hires, terminations, leave entitlements) are processed in a timely manner.
  • Process and maintain payroll adjustments, such as back pay, overpayments, underpayments, and reconciliations.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant payroll legislation and awards, including taxation laws, superannuation, and applicable award conditions.
  • Support ERP implementation from a payroll perspective.
  • Prepare and submit required payroll-related compliance reports (e.g., PAYG, superannuation, payroll tax) within established deadlines.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of employee payroll data, including personal details, employment terms, and pay changes.
  • Manage and update employee leave balances (e.g., annual leave, sick leave, long service leave) and ensure correct leave entitlements are applied and recorded.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for employee payroll inquiries, providing accurate and timely responses to any payroll-related questions.
  • Work closely with HR to ensure that employee leave, benefits, and employment status are up-to-date and accurate.

What We Need from You

  • Minimum 5 years in a payroll Officer (or similar) role within construction, manufacturing or a closely related industry in a company of a similar size.
  • Demonstrated experience processing end-to-end payroll, including wages, allowances, leave, and compliance requirements
  • Strong working knowledge of relevant construction and manufacturing awards
  • Advanced level of experience using Microsoft Suite
  • Experience with Pronto payroll systems (highly desirable)
  • Experience with Business Craft (desirable)
  • Exposure to ERP implementations or system upgrades from a payroll perspective (advantageous)
