Payroll Officer – Employment Hero Specialist

South of the River | $100,000 + Super | Office based role 

PSG are representing a well establsihed business in Perth who are looking to recruit a Payroll Officer with Employment Hero experience, who is responsible for end-to-end payroll processing for using the platform’s integrated HR and payroll functions. This role specifically requires expertise in managing automated compliance features like Payday Super  and Single Touch Payroll (STP) Phase 2 within the Employment Hero environment. The role operates as a standalone position with a direct reporting line to the Financial Controller. 

Key Responsibilities with Employment Hero: 

  • End-to-End Processing - Manage full pay cycles including automated pay runs, timesheet approvals via the Employment Hero Work app.
  • Maintain the integrity of the Employment Hero platform, including configuring employee personal details, bank accounts, TFNs, and superannuation data.
  • Use the platform's pre-built modern award library to automate complex pay conditions, penalty rates, and allowances.
  • Manage leave requests and automated accruals (Annual, Sick, Long Service) directly through the platform.
  • Oversee the data flow between Employment Hero and accounting software like Xero or MYOB to ensure accurate general ledger mapping. 

Required Technical Skills:

  • Advanced hands-on experience with both the HR platform and Employment Hero Payroll (formerly KeyPay).
  • Deep understanding of the Payday Super legislation,ensuring super contributions are processed alongside every pay run.
  • Ability to build and run custom reports in Employment Hero to track workforce costs and cost-center allocations.
  • Capable of resolving system discrepancies, such as fixing "bounced" super payments or TFN validation errors. 

Qualifications & Certifications:

  • Possession of Employment Hero Certifications (completed via the Hero Academy) is highly desirable.
  • 1–4 years in a payroll-focused role with a heavy emphasis on Australian legislative compliance (Fair Work Awards, PAYG, Super), including interpreting Awards to determine correct entitlements
  • Experience with the Employment Hero Work app for employee self-service and management.
