Payroll Services Officer

New role within education, managing payroll and HR data processes, ensuring accuracy and responsive staff support.

Wollongong location with WFH flexibility 6 month FTC and 12 month FTC options Excellent supportive team

Their People & Culture Services and Systems team plays a vital role in delivering exceptional HR, payroll, and workforce data services. You will be joining a collaborative, forward‑thinking environment where innovation, continuous improvement, and service excellence are at the heart of everything they do.

About the Role: This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive and detail‑focused Payroll Services Officer to join a dynamic People & Culture team.

In this role, you will:

  • Deliver accurate and timely payroll processing across the employee population.
  • Maintain high‑quality employee data within the HRIS system.
  • Respond to staff enquiries with professionalism and a customer‑centric approach.
  • Support internal mobility processes, including appointments, promotions, and allowances.
  • Manage employee separations and ensure all processes are completed accurately.
  • Assist with quarterly HR system enhancements, including testing and implementation.
  • Contribute to P&C projects, process improvement initiatives, and operational efficiencies.
  • Play a key part in ensuring HR services run smoothly and effectively across the organisation.

About You: You will bring a mix of strong technical and interpersonal skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced and supportive environment. You will have:

  • Excellent attention to detail and a passion for accuracy.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities with confidence and independence.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to support staff at all levels.
  • Experience in payroll processing, HR administration, or workforce data management (or similar).
  • Ideally experience with Oracle or Ascender
  • A proactive mindset and comfort working within policy‑driven environments.
  • A collaborative approach, enjoying teamwork and shared problem‑solving.
  • A customer-first attitude and a commitment to continuous improvement.
