This role offers an opportunity to deliver specialized nursing care in a progressive stepdown unit focused on transplant and critical care patients. The position involves working the night shift from 7 PM to 7 AM, providing attentive, patient-centered care in a fast-paced clinical setting. Responsibilities: Provide skilled nursing care to patients in a stepdown/PCU setting with a focus on solid organ transplant patients (kidney, liver, pancreas) Manage patients on heparin infusions and patient-controlled analgesia pumps (PCAs) Perform wound and drain care, including management of wound vacs, chest tubes, and Jackson-Pratt drains Utilize specialized equipment such as bladder scanners, Mobilabs for lab draws, EKG machines, AccuVein, and patient lift devices Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes Maintain accurate documentation within the Meditech electronic medical record system Adapt to variable patient census while maintaining safe nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:3-4 Qualifications / Desired Experience: Current and active RN licensure Experience in Med/Surg and telemetry nursing required Prior experience caring for patients on heparin drips and PCAs required Stepdown unit or progressive care experience strongly preferred Solid organ transplant nursing experience is a significant plus Strong critical thinking skills and ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment This position is contract-based with a focus on night shift coverage.
