A Pediatric Intensive Care RN role is available for a 26-week contract in Charlotte, NC, offering the opportunity to provide advanced nursing care in a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center affiliated with a teaching hospital. The unit is a 24-bed PICU with an average patient census of 21-23, specializing in high-acuity pediatric patients with complex diagnoses such as respiratory issues, trauma (including non-accidental trauma), diabetic ketoacidosis, seizures, neurosurgical cases, renal failure, orthopedic and surgical patients, transplant cases, blood disorders, and more. Nurses in this role will manage critical interventions including vasoactive drips, invasive lines, ventilator and tracheostomy care, CRRT, and complex medication drips, among others. Qualifications and Desired Experience Minimum 2 years of high-acuity Pediatric ICU nursing experience Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-intensity environment Current RN licensure with BLS and PALS certifications Proficiency with EPIC EMR system Experience with critical care technology such as Artic Sun, Belmont Rapid Infuser, Camino ICP monitoring, Alaris and Medfusion pumps Competency to float to Pediatric CVICU is preferred and discussed during the interview Responsibilities Deliver specialized nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients Perform bedside procedures in collaboration with care providers Manage ventilators, feeding tubes, chest tubes, epidurals, and sedation protocols Ensure meticulous aseptic and sterile technique adherence Coordinate care with interdisciplinary teams including intensivists, respiratory therapists, and APPs Participate in a 6-week rotating schedule without on-call duties for travelers Location Charlotte, North Carolina, is a vibrant and growing city known for its rich cultural scene, excellent dining, and outdoor recreational options.
