About the Role

Our client is seeking a Personal Care Attendant to work in their residential aged Care facility in Bendigo in regional Victoria. The position contributes to the health and wellbeing of aged care residents by providing competent personal care through person-centred approaches and consumer engagement. Reporting to the Registered Nurse In Charge, you will deliver direct care to residents in our residential aged care facility.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Provide personal care to assist residents with activities of daily living including hygiene, grooming, dressing, mobility assistance, and meal support while maintaining their independence and dignity according to individual care plans.
  2. Administer medications safely in accordance with training, competency, RN delegation, and organisational policies and procedures.
  3. Record observations on assessment and monitoring charts, document exceptions to care plans in progress notes, and communicate concerns to RN/EN In Charge.
  4. Participate in consumer assessment, care planning, implementation, and evaluation to meet individual care needs and funding requirements.
  5. Contribute to falls prevention programs, pressure injury prevention, and behaviour management strategies.
  6. Apply continence aids according to manufacturer instructions and resident needs.
  7. Perform blood glucose level testing and appropriately follow up abnormal readings.
  8. Identify SIRS reporting requirements and respond in accordance with organisational procedures.
  9. Participate in quality improvement activities including meetings, feedback processes, and review of procedures.
  10. Maintain a clean and safe work environment and participate in the risk management program.

Mandatory Requirements

Qualifications:

  1. Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) or Certificate III in Aged Care or equivalent.
  2. At least 12 months' full time experience in an aged care or related role

Skills and Experience:

  1. Experience providing personal care to elderly residents including assistance with activities of daily living.
  2. Competence in manual handling techniques using mechanical devices and mobility equipment.
  3. Demonstrated ability to document care provided and maintain accurate consumer records.
  4. Understanding of person-centred care principles and consumer-directed care approaches.
  5. Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team and communicate effectively with nursing staff, residents, and families.
  6. Computer literacy including experience with care management systems.
  7. Knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements in aged care settings.

Desirable

  1. Experience in residential aged care facilities.
  2. First Aid Certificate.
  3. Experience caring for people with dementia.
  4. Experience in palliative care/end-of-life care.
  5. Experience working with people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

Physical Requirements

This role requires the ability to walk and stand for approximately 50% of shift time, perform manual handling tasks using mechanical aids, and work rotating shifts as required.

Remuneration

$75,000 p.a. + superannuation based on a full time workload. Remuneration in accordance with EA.
