Pharmacy Technician I
Full Time /Part Time

Summary

A Technician brings creativity and courage and reliability to the Pharmacy Operation, as well as compassion to our patients. A Technician ensure patient prescriptions are filled and prepared in an accurate and timely manner.



Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Prescription Fulfillment: Counting, measuring, mixing, packaging, and labeling medications for patients.
  • Patient Interaction: Greeting customers, gathering patient info, answering phones, directing complex questions to the pharmacist, and helping patients find over-the-counter products.
  • Inventory Management: Stocking shelves, tracking medication levels, ordering supplies, and alerting pharmacists to shortages.
  • Administrative Duties: Processing insurance claims, entering data into computer systems, maintaining patient profiles, and filing paperwork.
  • Liaison: Contacting doctor's offices or insurance companies for prescription clarification or information.
  • Accuracy: Ensuring correct medications, dosages, and labels are prepared.
  • Attention to Detail: Crucial for data entry, inventory, and dispensing.
  • Customer Service: Providing helpful and professional interactions with patients.
  • Teamwork: Working closely with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals.
  • Responsible for keeping the pharmacy clean based on a cleaning schedule.
  • Accountable for checking expired drugs on a monthly basis.
  • Respect and maintain confidentiality guidelines of HIPAA.
  • Follow and aid in enforcement of all company policies and procedures.
  • Technicians will be required to assist with inventory when it is assigned.
  • Perform routine, professional pharmacy functions.
  • Assist with packing and shipping functions as needed.

  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to fill 40 prescriptions per hour.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle multiple activities or interruptions at once.
  • Ability to work in a standing environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, patiently and courteously.
  • Focused team player, who can work in conjunction with pharmacists, other departments, customers, and management.
  • Work independently with little supervision and meet daily deadlines.
  • Ability to perform repetitious work accurately.

  • Education and Experience
  • REQUIRED: Registered Pharmacy Technician in the state of Florida
  • One year minimum of pharmacy experience strongly preferred
  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Work Environment / Physical Demands

    This position is in a typical office environment which requires prolonged sitting and standing in front of a computer. In addition, this position requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office equipment, including the operation of standard computer and phone equipment. This position may be required to work long hours.
