Job Description
The primary role of a Phlebotomist I is to assist in performing various duties, including troubleshooting, training, and providing workflow recommendations. The position is located at the Columbia/Prisma 14 draw station, which serves patients of all ages, from pediatric to geriatric.
Responsibilities
+ Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and decontaminate.
+ Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
+ Explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection methods in a clear and courteous manner.
+ Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and butterfly needles.
+ Understand and execute physicians' orders accurately.
+ Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
+ Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
