Job Description
The primary role of a Phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, including troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations.
Responsibilities
+ Perform blood draws and label specimens accurately.
+ Centrifuge specimens and record maintenance data.
+ Decontaminate and update patient information.
+ Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
+ Explain the venipuncture process clearly and courteously to patients.
+ Demonstrate techniques using straight and butterfly needles.
+ Understand and follow all physicians' orders.
+ Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
+ Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
+ Ensure 100% accuracy in checking test requisitions or computer labels against scripts.
