    The Courier/Phlebotomist is under the direct supervision of the Administrative Director of Lab Services. To meet position responsibilities, the Courier/Phlebotomist will be required to work closely and in coordination with physicians, staff and administration of associated facilities and other hospital departments.

  DEFINITION OF POSITION

  
  
  
  
  • The Courier/Phlebotomist will function as phlebotomist and coordinator of laboratory specimens for Carteret General facilities or associates as assigned. In addition the Courier/Phlebotomist is responsible for the general delivery and transport of supplies, reports, minor equipment, x-rays, and any other items as assigned both to and from these facilities.

    The Courier/Phlebotomist will perform functions related to specimen processing, e.g. medical necessity review, order entry, etc. Also, the Courier/Phlebotomist will assist with office and clinical functions and with point of care testing in serviced facilities as appropriate and as assigned.

    Professional

    
    
    
    
    • 
      

      High school graduate or equivalent

      
      
    
    
    • 
      

      Medical assistant or phlebotomy training.

      
      
    
    
    • 
      

      Two years experience, as a phlebotomist in a hospital setting preferred.

      
      
    
    
    • 
      

      Must have a valid North Carolina driver’s license with good driving record.

      
      
    
    
    • 
      

      Possesses a car to use for courier responsibilities amongst facilities.

      
      
    
    
    • 
      

      Mathematical, verbal, and written skills at the high school level.
