Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Photonics R&D Scientist to support the characterization and testing of our silicon photonics integrated circuits. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering, optical engineering, or semiconductor physics, with hands-on experience in photonic device characterization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design Verification: Define and implement design verification test plans to analyze device performance and provide feedback for design improvements.
- Device Characterization: Perform detailed characterization of active and passive integrated photonic devices at both the chip and wafer levels.
- Data Analysis: Develop and utilize programs for data post-processing to ensure accurate and efficient analysis.
- R&D Participation: Engage in research and development projects aimed at the creation of next-generation photonic products.
- Test Setup Development: Develop and maintain test setups, including equipment resourcing and optical alignment procedures.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work effectively within cross-functional teams to achieve project goals.
Ideal Requirements:
- Educational Background: MS degree with 2+ years of experience or a PhD in electrical engineering, optical engineering, or semiconductor physics. Industry experience is preferred.
- Technical Skills:
- Hands-on experience with the characterization of active and passive photonic devices, including various optical and electrical measurements at both DC and AC levels.
- Proficiency in optical alignment and electrical probing procedures.
- Experience in developing and maintaining test setups and sourcing equipment.
- Strong understanding of guided-wave optical device principles.
- Additional Expertise:
- Background in 3D sensing, Lidar, or autonomous navigation is advantageous.
- Experience with active organic materials, compound materials, and their hybrid integration is a plus.
- Familiarity with semiconductor foundry and subassembly processes is beneficial.
