Physician Assistant-Breast Surgery

Our colorectal, breast, and gynecologic surgeons and oncologists specialize in diagnosing and treating cancers of the colon, rectum, breast, and female reproductive organs. They provide advanced surgical interventions working closely with our multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal outcomes and comprehensive support for patients.

SUMMARY:

Assists the physicians in the management of patients. Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures under the supervision of the physician. Works closely with and assists the physician in providing quality, efficient, ongoing, cost-effective care in-patient, out-patient, and within the designated departmental setting under the direction of the supervising physician.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Performs patient history and physical examination in the office setting.

Performs physical examination of patient's with breast disease in the office setting to formulate a clinical plan of action.

Assists with minor office procedures such as biopsies, dressing changes, drains and aspirations

Orders and interpret appropriate diagnostic tests for patient care

Monitors the patient's course of treatment and places orders for referral to the appropriate specialists if necessary

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: Completion of an approved 2 year physician assistant program. 

EXPERIENCE: none required, but experience in oncology is a plus! 

LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION: A current Physician’s Assistant license in state of Arizona and Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and DEA certifications required. Dept Specific: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: 

Knowledge of physician assistant regulations and practices along with prescribing regulations

Skill discharge planning or chronic care planning.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to inquiries or complaints from employees, patients and/or their representatives, and the general public.

Ability to calculate figures and compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
