Job Description Summary:
Annual Compensation: $329,760
Provides oversight of healthcare delivery and provides medical care to patients under the guidance of assigned practice/s. The Lead Hospitalist is responsible for continuous and sustained improvement in the areas of patient care inclusive of experience, outcomes, quality, human resources, practice finance and operations, and other accountabilities as assigned. The Lead Hospitalist will collaborate with Hospital Medicine, AHMG, and facility leadership to ensure alignment and work towards identified areas of opportunities via process and workflow improvement to meet and exceed expectations.

Lead Hospitalist Expectations/Duties:
Leads the monthly “MHM” meeting for their respective practice/sAssembles the monthly practice meeting agenda/slide deck, and coordinates internal/external speakers with support from Hospital Medicine Leadership as neededDisseminates information via minutes to physicians and APPs after meeting conclusionResponsible for disseminating information to practice physicians and APPs that originate from Hospital Medicine, AHMG, facility, or corporate leadershipParticipates in monthly contact with the HM Medical Director and Facility CMO to discuss practice performanceLeads the quarterly leadership meetings with the facility C-Suite with administrative support and guidance from Hospital Medicine LeadershipMust be a member of the facility MECAssigns team members to participate in facility and medical group committees to ensure continual HospitalMedicine presence, engagement, and influenceServes as the “face” of the practiceMust be visible/availableTake a proactive approach in the pursuance and fostering of administrative and clinical relationships with Hospital Medicine and AHMG LeadershipServe as a role model for physicians and APPs to emulateTakes ownership of the practiceWorks with identified stakeholders to collaborate and foster public relations with the patient community as requiredContinually progresses on the business aspect of Hospital MedicinePursues additional skills in documentation, coding, reimbursement methods/principles, scheduling, risk management, new hire integration, human resources inclusive of people management and development, and financePatient Care/Outcomes:Member of the facility Medical Executive CommitteeStays abreast of best practices and collaborates with appropriate stakeholders local to ensure the practice has the administrative processes and policies in-place to provide a launch pad for sustained performance in the areas of patient care and experience, quality, and outcomesCollaborates with facility/medical group CDI, revenue cycle, and Hospital Medicine leadership to identify opportunities to continuously improve the practice’s documentation abilitiesObserves the clinical skills of physicians and APPs and provides continuous mentoring and coachingCourse-corrects physicians and APPs as needed inclusive of reports to Hospital Medicine and facility leadership. Utilizes leadership and human resource-based personnel and tools as needed to aid in course-correctionIn collaboration with Hospital Medicine Leadership, ensures providers meet applicable federal, state, AdventHealth system, human resource and facility policies and guidelines to practice medicine as a HospitalistLiaisons with hospital medical staff, administration, emergency department and other service line’s staff and leadership via cadenced engagement to foster support of the Hospital Medicine programInteracts via cadenced engagement with ancillary services inclusive of laboratory, imaging, nursing, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, physical/occupational therapy, medical records, and other patient care stakeholders to ensure efficient workflowAids in the risk management space by reporting any unusual patient care/outcomes with the appropriate facility, medical group, or corporate stakeholdersResponsible for the timely resolution of patient grievances or reported safety events submitted either in person or electronicallyTrends by provider and/or type to identify opportunities for improvement, and with collaboration from appropriate stakeholders, forms action plans to improve upon existing performanceCollaborates with Hospital Medicine, AHMG, and facility leadership to identify patient experience opportunities for the practice and develops action plans that complements stakeholders to improve and sustain performanceHuman Resources:Collaborates with assigned mentor/s, Hospital Medicine, AHMG, and facility leadership to integrate and engage new physicians and APPsParticipates and/or leads physician and APP recruitment for their practiceWorks with Hospital Medicine Leadership and Recruitment to develop candidate itineraries, agendas, and interview preparatory documentsConsidered the physician and APP engagement champion for their practiceMeets with each physician and APP quarterly to engage them from the human and professional perspectiveCapitalizes on opportunities related to an individual provider or through trending of meeting documentation to continually engage physicians and APPs via action planningWorks with Hospital Medicine, AHMG, and facility leadership to develop and carry out:Corrective Action/ Performance Improvement Plans as appropriateProfessional Development/MentoringTrainingIn-tandem with Hospital Medicine Leadership, communicates and ensures the timely completion of assigned/required compliance (ALN) modulesPerformance Annual Review/Evaluations for Physicians and APP rolesPractice Finance/Operations:Maintains an understanding of current financial state for their practice via Financial Income Statements/Slicers, Billing and Productivity reportsCollaborates with the Hospitalist Program Scheduler on clinical coverage needs as neededAll the benefits and perks you need for you and your family:
