Job Description

This role is for one of the Weekday's clients

Compensation: $30-$80 per hour

We are seeking experienced physics professionals to support a high-impact AI research initiative in collaboration with a leading AI lab. In this contract role, you will design, review, and evaluate technically rigorous tasks that assess AI systems’ understanding of fundamental physics concepts, quantitative reasoning, and scientific problem-solving. This opportunity is well-suited for individuals with strong academic training in physics and the ability to critically evaluate complex technical content.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Design realistic, domain-appropriate physics tasks covering areas such as classical mechanics, electromagnetism, quantum physics, and related topics
  • Evaluate AI-generated responses for conceptual correctness, mathematical rigor, and logical consistency
  • Develop high-quality reference solutions demonstrating clear reasoning, accurate calculations, and sound scientific explanations
  • Identify and document incorrect assumptions, flawed logic, or computational errors in model outputs
  • Collaborate asynchronously with researchers and fellow experts through structured written feedback and shared documentation

Ideal Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (PhD or MSc) in Physics or a closely related discipline
  • 3+ years of experience in physics research, teaching, or applied problem-solving roles
  • Strong command of theoretical principles, quantitative modeling, and analytical techniques
  • Excellent written communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly
  • Experience reviewing or validating scientific or educational technical content

Engagement Details

  • Time Commitment: 10+ hours per week
  • Work Structure: Deliverables-based assignments including conceptual questions, applied problems, derivations, and explanatory prompts
  • Quality Assurance: Expert validation and peer-review processes to ensure rigor and consistency

Application Process

  • Submit a brief resume or LinkedIn profile highlighting your physics background and areas of specialization
  • Complete a short skills questionnaire; a paid trial task may be used to assess fit
  • Selected candidates will be contacted with next steps and detailed project information
