IBA is proud to collaborate with the Oncology Referral Center, Centro di Riferimento Oncologico IRCCS to bring advanced cancer treatment to more patients.
As a Physics Service Engineer, you will initially participate in the full installation of IBA’s proton therapy equipment during the first year of the project (installation, calibration and commissioning activities on the Proton Therapy Centre).
Once installation is completed, your role will be to ensure that the equipment is functioning properly.
The installation is expected to be completed within 11 months with a start planned on July 2026. The start date may be adjusted if necessary. The contract will start around March 2026, followed by training until the start of the installation (in Italy, Belgium and abroad).
We offer a fixed-term contract of 15 months with the possibility of extension (4 months of training + 11 months of the installation).

As Beam Physics Service Engineer you are responsible for:
During the installation phase (+/- 11 months)
Participating in the installation of a broad range of IBA equipment and technical tools on the Proton Therapy site with a specific focus on beam-related equipmentPerforming the beam-related equipment calibration following procedures Operating the system (understanding the software/hardware architecture of the system and the PT center components) in order to obtain a beam that matches the requirementsSetting and aligning Dosimetry toolsCritically analyzing a large amount of data to diagnose potential technical issuesTesting and validating the equipment according to the specifications and ensuring the customer requirements are met in terms of compliance, quality, technical performance and timingManaging all aspects of beam-related commissioning activities: Pencil Beam Scanning (PBS) etc.Troubleshooting the equipment Ensuring the highest quality of state-of-the-art technologies and services During the Customer Service phase
Maintaining and troubleshooting the equipmentOperating the system and providing technical support to the medical staff during patient treatment and clinical operationsEnsuring the client requirements are met in term of technical performance, timing and safetyTraining customersCarrying out preventive and corrective maintenance on equipment (shift work)Upgrading and improving the system in collaboration with the R&D (Research and Development) departmentWhat we value
You have:
A Master degree or PhD in Physics or engineeringAn experience in High Energy Physics, Particle Accelerators or Medical Physics is a strong asset Good knowledge of MS Excel, Python and data acquisition scriptingThe ability to troubleshoot large system issuesStrong written and verbal communication skills in English and Italian.And you also are:
Able to follow rules & regulations and you able to deliver on strict deadlinesAnalytical, good troubleshooting skills, able to identify root cause of issuesWilling to share your knowledge in your area of expertiseA team player with strong interpersonal skillsWilling to travel extensively during the training periodA flexible person, willing to work in rotating shift work, night work and weekends (up to 50% of your time)Customer-oriented
