Deliver critical care in a fast-paced Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) setting with this contract opportunity based in Monroe, NC. This role focuses on providing high-acuity nursing care to pediatric patients requiring complex interventions in a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center with 24 beds and an average census of 21-23 patients. Key Responsibilities: Manage and monitor critically ill pediatric patients with diagnoses including respiratory conditions, trauma (penetrating and non-accidental), DKA, seizures, neurosurgical cases, acute/chronic renal failure, orthopedic and surgical patients, transplants, blood disorders, and complex medical needs. Administer and titrate vasoactive drips, manage invasive lines (ART lines/CVP), and perform ventilator and tracheostomy care. Utilize advanced technology such as EPIC EMR, Artic Sun, Belmont Rapid Infuser, and specialized monitoring devices. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including intensivists, residents, APPs, pharmacists, and respiratory therapists. Provide support in bedside procedures, discharge planning, and float to Pediatric CVICU as needed. Maintain aseptic and sterile techniques, including dressing changes and Foley catheter management. Qualifications/Desired Experience: Registered Nurse (RN) licensure with BLS and PALS certifications. Minimum 2 years experience in a high-acuity Pediatric ICU setting. Proficiency with EPIC and familiarity with critical care equipment and procedures listed above. Competency to float to Pediatric CVICU and other pediatric units. Comfortable working in a collaborative, fast-paced team environment emphasizing trust, respect, accountability, and compassionate care. Schedule and Contract Details: 26-week contract with potential for a 48-hour/week guarantee. No call responsibilities; floating within pediatric units may occur. Orientation includes facility and unit-specific training. Free parking provided.
