Position: Piping Engineer

Total Experience:  6-7 years of relevant experience

Education:  B.Tech/M.Tech- Mechanical/Piping Engineering

Location:  Vastrapur, Ahmedabad

Office Timing: 09:30 AM to 6:30 PM

Roles and Responsibilities:

 Responsibility of the design planning phase such as creating project specific drawing & document list, Mechanical Design Plan, Project report card inputs, Customer drawing lists, input lists (customer & internal departments).
 Attend scheduled project reviews with the Project teams & provide input on behalf of the Mechanical department such as projected dates of outputs, requirements of inputs, constraints & open issues that result in delays of outputs.
 Periodic communications to be sent out to project teams, highlighting any exceptions that impact planned output schedules.
 Attend kick-off meetings with customers, wherever necessary.
 Design and engineering of water treatment plants in compliance with global codes, standards and project engineering specifications.
 Piping design & detail engineering including performing 3D model reviews & constructability reviews.
 Preparation or MR/TBE for piping bulks & preparation of Tender documents.
 Review technical aspects of quotes from vendor for items released by the Mechanical group.
 Review of Clients tender documents, specifications, datasheets, verification of FEED design & calculations.
 Preparation & review of various engineering deliverables (Drawings & Documents) such as Stress analysis, preparation of Piping Material specification, design calculations, Piping Layout, Equipment layout, isometrics, and providing necessary engineering inputs to the other disciplines and other departments.
 Conduct coordination / interface meetings with Electrical Engineering to discuss & freeze critical interface details.
 Be responsible for various design reviews detailed in the ISO procedures.
 Responsible for the actions listed under design outputs from the department procedures such as formal document releases, tracking of returns, SAP uploads, resubmission of customer drawings & documents with “comment response sheets”.
 Address NCRs, RFIs from vendors / customers, Defect Notifications from shop.
 Visit fabrication / assembly shops to resolve issues, as necessary
 Visit sites to resolve issues related to designs, as necessary
 Coordinate between the piping stress analysis group & design group to ensure that recommendations from the analysis are incorporated in the piping designs.

 Interface with the product development group to ensure that the designs are consistent with the specific project requirements from the specification & layout perspectives.
 Review & comment on Basic Engineering components that are sent to the Mechanical team for review. This should be done within the stipulated time frames.
 Respond to site queries within a reasonable time.
 Interface with external design agencies per the protocols listed in the departmental procedures. This involves providing inputs to these agencies, reviewing specific aspects of their outputs, ensuring schedules & integration aspects with internal designs.
 Review site back charges & turning the learning into Lessons learned.
 Estimation / engineering work related to bids. Support the Applications group in designing, BOQs and estimating for FEED phases.
 Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders in English.

Qualifications / Experience

  • B. Tech / B.E. / M. Tech in Mechanical Engineering
  • Specialization in Piping engineering will be a plus
  • Exposure to US / EU material specifications, piping codes B31.1. and B31.3, PED
  • Excellent communication skills - verbal and written (Proficient in business interaction with international teams).
  • Experience of Stress Analysis & Valves Calculation required
