RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leading a Piping design team within a project Organization on Large EPC projects. 
  • Must be able to take a hands-on role in the development of Piping concept studies and equipment layout preparations as well as provide supervision/guidance to working engineers and designers in problem-solving. 
  • Must be able to understand Material / Mechanical handling studies. 
  • Must be able to understand safety layout & good knowledge of safety equipment used in the offshore industry. Also, display good knowledge of Human ergonomics in Design. 
  • Display good knowledge and understanding of process requirements in piping Design and Material considerations. 
  • Adherence to company procedures (Technical, Management & QMS procedures). 
  • Able to plan and work independently, reporting progress and schedule to team leaders and PMT. 
  • Planning and implementation of the Project to ensure that deliverables are issued on schedule, project milestone dates are met, and given tasks are completed within the allowed budget. 
  • Preparation of scope of work, man-hours distribution; Selection of resources in consultation with the head of the discipline to meet the specific job requirements. 
  • Preparation, Review & Approval of all design documents/drawings as per project deliverables list. 
  • Understand Piping bulk material aspects, bulk take-offs, quantification. 
  • Ensure proper detailing of Pipe supports in 3D & 2D and interface with Structural to provide clash free model. 
  • Able to evaluate stress analysis result and provides necessary recommendation on resolving the method of analysis. 
  • Ensure smooth handling of 3D model gate reviews (30%, 60% & 90%), Constructability reviews & HAZOP reviews, and implementations. Perform cold eye review of Piping deliverables & 3D model. 
  • Develop and maintain isometric Index, Pipe support index, closeout report of the model review, and Punch list & Hold list. 
  • To coordinate the review and approval of vendor documents /drawings and ensure full compliance with contract requirements and meet with company/client specifications. 
  • Coordination with Engineering Project Managers / Lead Engineers from other Disciplines for the inter-disciplinary tasks. 
  • Monitoring of job progress, identifying slippage and shortcomings, and setting solutions and remedies in consultation with the Project Manager. 
  • Have experience in handling queries arising from clients, comments from approval authorities, contractors, or other disciplines. Provide sound judgment while handling projects of Brownfield nature. 
  • Develop training and skill development plan for graduate Trainees and mid-level Engineers. 
  • Effective weekly progress report (Project status and resource utilization). 
  • Working knowledge of international codes and standards like ASME B 31.3 / B31.4 / B31.8, ASTM, API, BS, MSS SP, NACE & ABS. 
  • 3D software work experience is value added: E3D / PDMS & AutoCAD. 
  • REQUIREMENTS

  • BE/BTech in Mechanical engineering with Min. 15 year of experience (Min 4-5 years in Lead role). 
  • Should have worked as Design Lead in the offshore Oil & Gas industry working with International companies involved in Concept/FEED/Detail Design & EPC Projects of Piping for Offshore Oil and Gas facilities – Wellhead platforms, Fixed Process Platforms, FPSO topsides modules & Turret Mooring System, TLPs & Semi-submersibles
  • Should be able to undertake multiple tasks related to discipline development in additional to the project execution.
  • Good communication skills to ensure smooth flow of project information across the team members.
  • A good team player who is capable to work with a diverse team of engineers with a high-level profession.
