Overview
New Murchison Gold is seeking a motivated Pit Technician to join our Technical Services team at our Western Australian gold operation. This hands-on role supports grade control and ore quality through in-field sampling, ore spotting, and data validation activities critical to mining performance. Operating on an 8 days on / 6 days off FIFO roster, this role offers a strong balance between fieldwork and technical support while contributing to safe, efficient mining operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct blast-hole and crusher sampling and dispatch samples to the on-site laboratory
- Perform QA/QC reviews of laboratory assay results
- Complete ore spotting, dig-face inspections, and ore mark-ups to maintain ore hygiene
- Carry out stockpile inspections, reconciliations, and balances
- Enter and validate material movement and truck data
- Manage sampling equipment and consumables
- Communicate and escalate variances or deviations from plan to relevant stakeholders
- Undertake additional duties as required by the Technical Services team
About You
- Current Manual C Class Driver’s Licence
- Strong commitment to safe work practices
- Confident computer skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and Word
- Well organised with the ability to manage competing priorities
- Able to work both independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Physically capable of manual handling tasks
- Willingness to work FIFO in remote site conditions
- Previous mining experience advantageous but not essential
- Interest in geology or mining operations highly regarded
