Description:
This position will have the responsibility and authority to schedule and dispatch FPL generation resources to economically balance load and generation in order to meet real-time system conditions and to comply with applicable regulatory requirements and NERC reliability standards.

This position is also responsible to evaluate and approve OASIS requests and Tags and for performing energy accounting functions. Also, has capability to perform next-day generation planning function and can perform, on a temporary basis, certain system operator functions whenever the on-shift System Operator is away from desk (bathroom breaks, etc.).

Responsible for planning, scheduling, and tracking, ensuring compliance with operational and regulatory requirements.

Develops work orders, ensures coordination between operations, and leads scheduling processes for maintenance, compliance, and project execution.

Evaluates and improves work management execution, participates in event response, and leads root cause analysis for operational efficiency improvements.

Coordinates committing, decommitting, and outages of power plants with FPL’s System Operator and PGBU. Ensures rapid recovery from loss of generation to comply with NERC requirements.

Performs hourly and on-peak/off-peak energy accounting functions with adjacent balancing authorities.



Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or professional certification required.Relevant



Experience: + years of experience in advanced scheduling, power system operations, and project coordination within FPL and PGBU.



Responsibilities: Oversees strategic planning and scheduling efforts, ensuring regulatory compliance and optimizing load-generation balance.

Provides technical leadership in power system forecasting, emergency planning, and compliance with industry regulations.

Develops, submits, and modifies monthly Tags for FPL’s dynamic schedules.



Other: Extensive experience in NERC-certified operations, outage planning, and operational risk management; Power Coordinator Certification preferred.

Senior Project Controls and Scheduler – Engineering and Construction


NextEra Energy Resources is seeking a qualified candidate to join the project Scheduling Team for the Engineering and Construction Division located in Juno Beach, Florida.

This candidate will work directly with the Project Originators, Developers, Early Stage Project Managers, Project Engineers, and Construction Managers supporting the development, engineering, and construction of various technologies. Some examples of projects include but are not limited to Wind, Solar, Energy Storage, Transmission Lines, Substations, Pipelines, Combine Cycles, etc.
Reporting to the group Manager, the candidate will be responsible for leading teams in the creation, maintenance and progress of project schedules using Primavera P Software.

The candidate may also be in charge of the preparation of monthly reports for construction projects comparing baseline of approved schedules to progress schedules.

This may include critical path method analysis, resource loading, cost loading, Client submittal analysis, evaluation of update impacts and aid in recovery plan development.
In this role, the candidate will be a key player as a member of the scheduling team in support of project teams working on various technologies to drive project success through the project's entire life cycle.

The candidate's scheduling, management and technical skill set will be important to develop effective & accurate schedules, coordinate multidisciplinary meetings and report to management for an impressive portfolio of projects.
Skill requirements:
  • + years of Primavera P Scheduling software experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction, Business Management or similar field, or applicable experience.

  • Team leader. Be able to lead team of schedulers and interact with all project participants to gather scope, logistics, and constraints to be included within the plan and schedule. Maintain a positive attitude and develop strong working relationships with all team members.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to lead Schedule Review Meetings with all project participants and to coordinate requirements to ensure resources are focused on the right project activities.

  • Strong bias for action-oriented performers. Analytical mindset. Ability to review, criticize and validate external information. Excellent process management, prioritization and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to report project status & variances to management in a clear and concise manner.
